Harold L. Lueders, 91, of Emerson, Nebraska died on Friday, January 21, 2011 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Church with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.
Harold was born on May 21, 1919 in Pender, Nebraska the son of Henry and Minna (Mueller) Lueders. He joined the United States Army on February 24, 1942 and fought during WW II with the 636th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He fought over 600 days of combat in seven major invasions from Africa through Italy, Franc, Germany and Austria. After the war, Harold returned home and married Adell Essmann on January 2, 1955. To this union a son, Larry, was born in 1960. He enjoyed farming and working with livestock.
One of his greatest honors was to be on the Honor Flight with his son on October 13, 2009. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Harold is survived by his wife Adell, his son Larry, one grandson, a brother Glen and his wife Helen of Emerson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
