Marilyn L. Spath, 80, of Wayne, Nebraska, formerly of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne. Funeral services for Marilyn will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Darwin Garton will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on June 22, 1930 in Boise City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Dwight and Velma (Walker) Phillips. She attended school and graduated from Boise City High School. Marilyn was married to Jenner Chance in 1949. To this union two children were born: Dennis and Lynn. In 1971 she married Ed Spath. They made their home in Wakefield where she worked for M.G. Waldbaum’s. Ed died on 1993. Marilyn continued to make her home in Wakefield until moving to Wayne in 2005.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Lynn and husband Michael Smith of Valrico, Florida, step-children: Donna and husband Richard Fowler of S. Sioux City, Nebraska, Dale and wife Becky Spath and Doug and wife Judy Spath of Sioux City, IA. She is also survived by a grandson Christian and his four children, 11 step-grandchildren, 21 step great-grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren, her brother Bob and wife Nini Phillips of Tucson, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed, her son Dennis and a brother Richard Phillips.
