When he was very young the family moved to the farm near Macy, NE. He attended Decatur High School and at age 19, joined the Army and served as a medic. He met Jeraldine Fairbairn in 1945 and they were united in marriage November 7th 1947 at the First Reformed Church in Macy. Later they moved to the farm and together they raised two sons, Dwane and Terry. Among Kenneth’s loves, the farm held a special place in his heart. Even after they moved to Walthill, he continued to farm with Dwane. In his later years, he enjoyed driving the countryside and observing farming operations. Church, family, and friends were a large part of his life. He enjoyed building toy machine sheds and doll beds for his grandchildren and family friends. Ken and Jerry enjoyed traveling, and made frequent trips to visit family and friends on the West Coast. But, his favorite pastime was, of course, playing cards. Poker was his game of choice, but would play Gin-Rummy with anyone who was willing. Survivors include his sons: Dwane and his wife Sheryl of Macy, Nebraska and Terry and his wife Terry of Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren: Amy & husband Andy Soll, Alissa & husband Brandon Dangler, Christy & husband Chris Stimac, Katie, Julie, and Brian: great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, River, and Olivia: sister and brother-in-law: Eunice and Warren Creamer. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Cora, sister Imogene, and his wife, Jerry. Pall Bearers will be: Ray Cooney, Greg Meyer, Doug Morgan, Russell Stansberry, Mike Storm, Bob Worley. Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Tom Farrens, Chick Maryott, Lewis Storm, Lyle Storm, Boyd Worley. Memorials are suggested to the Walthill and Decatur Fire and Rescue Units.
