LaVerle C. Obermeyer

LaVerle C. Obermeyer, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 surrounded by his family at his home in Wakefield. Funeral services for LaVerle will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Willie Bertrand officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday at Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00. Burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery following lunch at the church on Saturday. LaVerle was born on February 23, 1937 in Laurel, Nebraska the son of Herman F. and Gertrude (Koeppen) Obermeyer. On August 24, 1956, he was married to Anna Mae Bach in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Laurel and later moved to Wakefield, where he worked for the City of Wakefield for over 35 years. LaVerle was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield. He enjoyed his family, playing cards, the outdoors, bowling and Nebraska Football. LaVerle is survived by his wife Anna Mae of more than 54 years, five sons Rick of Laurel and his special friend Joyce Zila, Jerry of Fort Dodge, IA and his special friend Ruth Ann Peterson, Scott and wife Melissa of Wakefield, Brian and wife Kris of Tekamah, NE and Steven and wife Deb of Wakefield. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister Anna Mae Burns and husband Keith of Sioux City, IA, a brother-in-law Chuck Bach and wife Logene of Thurston, NE, a sister-in-law Diane Clark of Bronson, IA and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Alvin, Harold, Emil, Earl, Lawrence, Leonard, Clayton and Alton.
