Sylvia A. Mallum 103, of Wakefield, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Wakefield Health Care Center.
Funeral services for Sylvia will be held on Monday, March 14, at 2:00 PM at the Wakefield Presbyterian Church , Pastor Charity Potter will be officiating. The visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bressler~Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield with a prayer service at 7:00. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
Sylvia was born on June 22, 1907 in Lyons, Nebraska, the daughter of Grant and Mary (Patterson) Smith. Sylvia was one of seven children. She was baptized at the Lyons Presbyterian Church and was a long time member of the Wakefield Presbyterian Church. On July 2, 1923 she was united in marriage to Arthur Mallum at Altona, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Charles, Robert, Dennis and Ruth. Arthur passed away on October 30, 1983.
Sylvia loved her family and took pride their accomplishments. She loved to garden, cook and bake, she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. She is survived by her children, sons Robert and Karen Mallum of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dennis and Susan Mallum, also of Lincoln, daughter Ruth and Tom Simpkin of Harrietta, Michigan and daughter-in-law Connie Mallum of Orangevale, California, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews and her cousin Margaret Patterson.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, son Charles, great granddaughter Bailey Bush, four brothers and two sisters.
