Carl A. Vollers Jr.

Carl A. Vollers Jr., 79, of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Pender Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pender with Pastor Richard Pingel officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender. Carl was born on October 5, 1931 in Pender, Nebraska to Carl Sr. and Martha (Stalling) Vollers. He was the youngest son of 8 siblings. Carl grew up in Pender, where he attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1950. Carl and Gloria Herbolsheimer were married in May of 1955 and he was employed by Vollers and Son Garage. The family moved to Wyoming where Carl was employed as an oil rig worker. A few years later they returned to Pender and operated Carl's Cafe for ten years. He returned to Vollers and son Garage where he worked until his retirement. Carl married Betty Osweiler of Missouri Valley, Iowa in December of 2002. Carl enjoyed golfing during his retirement years and was always a Husker fan. Carl is survived by his wife Betty, daughters: Mary Jane Collier of Albuquerque, NM, and Val (Dan) Bard of Wakefield, NE, grandchildren: Torin Bard of Lincoln, NE, and Kelsey Bard of Kearney, NE, one sister, Donna (Lugene) Cromer of Cedar Rapids, IA, two sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, three step children, three step grandchildren, and one step-great grandson. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria, brothers: John, Jordan, and Dell Vollers, sisters: Verna VanKley, and Carol Harris and an infant sister, Joan.
