Jeffery E. Swanson

Jeffery Eugene. Swanson, 63, of Wakefield, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wakefield Presbyterian Church with Pastor Charity Potter officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bressler~Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Jeffery was born on June 22, 1947 in Wayne, Nebraska, the son of Eugene and Phyllis (Clough) Swanson. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1965 and attended Wayne State College and N.E. Tech School before entering the U.S. Air Force. He served for four years in various places including Korea. He was a lifelong member of the Wakefield Presbyterian Church, currently serving on the Session, as well as an Elder. He was active in the Jaycee Program, American Legion Post 81, State Oratorical Comm., District III and Dixon County Commander. He enjoyed fishing with his niece and nephew, and was an excellent cook. Jeffery is survived by his father, Eugene Swanson of Wakefield, his sister, Claudia (Jason) Racely of Wayne, NE, Nephew Taylor and niece Stephanie of Wayne, and many friends. Jeffery was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis in 2004.
