Nina E. Askwig

Nina E. (McVeigh) Askwig, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011. Born December 6, 1916, in Rogers City, MI to Bruce and Ida (Ritchie) McVeigh. Attended Rogers City Schools in MI, graduating in 1935. Entered Mercy College of Nursing in Detroit, MI, graduating in 1938, and worked in many phases of medicine. Married Leroy C. Askwig, MD, November 2, 1945, in Detroit, MI, and moved to Pierre, SD in 1947. Upon retiring in 1984, moved to Sun City West, AZ and in 2003, to Tucson, AZ. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents and 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survived by her son Bruce Askwig and wife Evelyn, Goodrich, MI and daughter, Nancy and husband John O. Davis, Tucson, AZ. Six grandchildren, Jonathan Askwig and Michael Askwig, Goodrich, MI and John A. Davis, Anne Davis, Mary Davis Tucson, AZ, and Helen (Davis) Babcock and husband Abe, Chandler, AZ, and three great-granddaughters, Mackenzie, Catherine and Addison Babcock. Funeral services will be at the Bancroft Presbyterian Church, Bancroft, NE Friday, April 8, at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Charity Potter officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery.
