Mary Lou Brondum, 88, of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Pender Care Centre. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender with the Rev. Glen Schacht officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender.
Mary Lou was born on August 5, 1922, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the daughter of Guilford and Mary Lou (Daniels) Cole. She attended school in Waynesboro. After graduation, she attended nursing school at St. Thomas Hospital near Nashville. She eventually moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she taught nursing. She met Norman Brondum at a dance. The couple married in 1981. The couple made their home in rural Pender until two years ago when Marylou entered the Pender Care Centre.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Norman, five step-sons: Chris of Minneapolis, MN; Del and his wife Cindy of Adel, IA; Harlie of Bellevue, NE; Jeff of Seattle, WA; and Kim and his wife Jamie of Casper, WY. She is also survived by 14 step-grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers: Harold Cole and his wife Edna of Waynesboro, TN; Jasper Cole and his wife Rowena of Mesa AZ: Robert Cole and his wife Faye of Waynesboro, TN, sisters Marie Rovere of Florence, AL, and Doris Klinglehut and her husband Jerry of Folsum, CA.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents.
