Norman Sorensen

Norman Sorensen, 92, of Bancroft, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Logan Valley Manor in Lyons, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. David List officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral at the Church. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Norman was born on November 26, 1918 just north of Bancroft, Nebraska, the son of M.P.and Nicoline (Anderson) Sorensen. He graduated from Bancroft High School in 1936, and married Alvera Doescher on July 8, 1942 in Fremont, Nebraska. The couple farmed in the Bancroft, West Point and Lyons Area. They moved into Bancroft in 1980. One of Norman's favorite activities was playing cards. Alvera passed away on March 1, 2006. Norman had been residing in assisted living since 2009. Norman is survived by his children: Stanley Sorensen and his wife Sharen of La Vista, NE; Rodney Sorensen and his wife JoAnn of St. Louis, MO; and Diane Sorensen of Lincoln, NE. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alvera, and a sister, Ann Wingett.
