James E. Heelan

James E. Heelan, 70, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Heritage of Emerson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson with Father Gerald Leise officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Jim was born on May 6, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Raymond and Dorothea (Beiersdorf) Heelan. He graduated from Sacred Heart School in Emerson, and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked for a few years at Bryan Memorial Hospital as a Pharmacist. He moved to Colorado Spring with his family, returning to Emerson in 1983. James had lived at Heritage of Emerson since 2002. Among his other gifts, James had a great sense of humor. Jim is survived by sisters: Jackie Linahan of San Antonio, TX, Jeneanne Voss of Emerson, NE; Josynne Sherlock of Omaha, NE; and Janet (Bill) Turner of Colorado Springs, CO, brother-in-law Francis Voss of Emerson, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law Joe Sherlock and Harold Linahan.
