Wilma Ella (Schnier) Nixon was born April 7, 1919, to Gerhardt H. and Adeline L. (Von Seggern) Schnier at Bancroft, NE. Wilma departed this earth as she lived her life - with grace, faith and dignity. Wilma was married to Ivan A. Nixon on November 23, 1940 and to this union was born five children. Her four sons, Mert and Marlene Nixon, Eldy Nixon and Carol Koufal, Lonnie and Marcia Nixon and Willie and Marlys Nixon and her daughter Jan and Clay Stalling. In addition she is survived by her special ‘daughter’ Denise Simpson, sister, Melba Cooper of Pender, NE, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and many loving friends. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan in October 1982, her son Willie in October 2010, brothers Gerald, Lester and Kenneth Schnier, a sister, Agnus Johnson, and a great-great grandson, Ethan Nixon. Wilma was a member of two special groups of women who have been her lifelong friends and support. This was her Pinochle Club and 500 Club as she loved playing cards. She passed along this love of card playing to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by teaching them how to play these games in addition to Shanghai Rummy and Chinese checkers. She could not be beat! She also loved her baking and cooking for everyone who entered her home, listening to Elvis Presley gospel music, and caring for the birds and flowers that surrounded her home. She had worked at Waldbaum's for many years. She has been a member of Salem Lutheran Church since she and Ivan moved to Wakefield in 1946. Her faith guided her life and she truly lived her life as a gracious servant of the Lord.
