Linda D. Urbauer

February 2, 1945 — July 8, 2011

Linda D. Urbauer, 66, of Winnebago, Nebraska died on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson, Nebraska, after a fourteen year battle with breast cancer. Funeral services for Linda will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Davenport Cemetery in Davenport, Nebraska. Linda was born on February 2, 1945 in Davenport, Nebraska the daughter of Dean and Lila (Snyder) Urbauer. At an early age, Linda’s family moved to Lincoln and she graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School with the class of 1965. She worked at Gold’s Department Store before moving to San Francisco, California with her friends. There she stayed for 45 years enjoying the beauty that San Francisco has to offer. She worked at several jobs including the Bank of San Francisco, until its closing. She then moved back to Nebraska to be closer to her family. Her love of horses found expression in carousel horses in California, and when she moved back, she was able to make her dream of having her own horse a reality. Although she didn’t ride much, her horse brought her much joy and peace. Linda enjoyed simple things like garage sales, flea markets, shopping, camping, and loved the water. She was content to just sit outside on the deck and watch the horses, goats and chickens do their thing. Not having room for a garden in San Francisco, she was thrilled to putter around in her own garden here. Linda is survived by her father Dean of Ong, Nebraska, a brother Richard of Lincoln, Nebraska, sister Julie and her husband Owen Kelley of Winnebago, Nebraska, a brother James and his wife Tammy of Lincoln, Nebraska, two nieces and 5 nephews and many cousins. She is also survived by her best friend Judy Bohannon of Stockton, California. She was preceded in death by her mother Lila and a sister-in-law Connie.
