Betty J. Bressler, 83, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services for Betty will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Darwin Garton will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
Betty was born in Pender, Nebraska on December 14, 1927, the daughter of William and Frances (Brandt) Weddingfeld. Betty attended and graduated from Pender High School. After graduation she was united in marriage to John Warren Bressler on February 23, 1947. In 1951, the couple moved to Wakefield, where they purchased the Hypse Funeral Home, and operated as Bressler Funeral Home until 1986. Betty was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and P.E.O. She was a longtime volunteer at the Wakefield Care Center, where she could be found almost daily. She was also active with the Salem Church Quilters.
Betty is survived by her three sons and their wives: Kent and Cathy Bressler of Kerrville, Texas, Kip and Coleen Bressler of Hoskins, Nebraska and Kerry and Mary Bressler of Sioux City, Iowa. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Gretchen Rossington, Celeste Brown, Todd Bressler, Lindsay Bressler and Alissa Bressler; along with her five great-grandchildren: John Banks Brown, Catherine Brown, Alexis Brown, Thomas Colt Rossington and Laila Bressler. Also surviving Betty are her brothers and sisters: Wilbur and wife Karen Weddingfeld of Tucson, AZ, Bill and Sue Weddingfeld of Panora, IA, Madeline Barker of Pender and Violet Robison also of Pender and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Warren on August 16, 2001, a brother Merlyn Weddingfeld and sisters Myra Watson and Genene Busch.
