Kerry V. Young

Kerry V. Young, 56, of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Pender with the Rev. Steve Breazier officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Kerry was born on November 15, 1954, in Pender, Nebraska, the son of Vernon and Bonnie (O'Mara) Young. He graduated from Pender High School in 1973, and attended school for mechanics and refrigeration. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his dog Cooper, extended family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking, camping, mechanics, and fixing anything and everything for anyone. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix. Kerry was also an excellent storyteller. There wasn't a memory that he couldn't relate with every minute detail. Kerry is survived by his mother, Bonnie Young of Pender, NE, one daughter, April Schumacher and her husband John of Pender, two sons: Michael Young and Mark Young, both of Pender, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Schumacher of Pender, NE, and Bentlee Young of Odebolt, IA, two sisters: Cindy Miller and her husband Wayne of Hubbard, NE, and Christy Heise and her husband Gene of Bancroft, NE, one brother, Chad Young and his wife Sandy of Dodge, NE. He left a legacy of love for his family and friends. Kerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his father, Vernon E. Young.
