Colbey R. Gatzemeyer

Colbey Ray Gatzemeyer, 21, of Elkhorn, Nebraska died on Sunday, August 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft; Fr. Paul Ortmeier will be officiating with the assistance of Pastor Chase Gordon. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Prayer service will follow from 7:00 to 8:00 at the church in Bancroft. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery near Bancroft. Colbey was born on August 3, 1990 in Pender, Nebraska, the son of Todd Gatzemeyer and Sheila (Smith) Blatchford. Colbey graduated from Millard West High School in Omaha in 2009. After graduation he worked with his father at Todd’s Sod Farm. Colbey based his life on bettering himself and those around him. He will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his incredible outlook on life. His greatest treasure had always been the time he spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his father Todd Gatzemeyer of Bancroft, his mother Sheila Blatchford of Bancroft, his girlfriend Jessica Hug and their son Bradley Tripp Gatzemeyer of Elkhorn, a brother Colt Gatzemeyer of Bancroft, half brothers and sisters: Tristian, Talisha, Natasha Blatchford, and Vicki and Will Gatzemeyer of Bancroft, step brother and sister: Chase Goeken of Lincoln and Paige Goeken of David City, and his maternal grandparents Dennis and Peggy Smith of Rosalie. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles and cousins. Colbey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Bill and Kay Gatzemeyer and stepmother Michelle (Goeken) Gatzemeyer.
