Martha Helena Merry

Martha H. Merry, 98, of Pender, Nebraska died on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Legacy Gardens Nursing Center in Pender. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the United Church of Pender; Pastor Stephen Breazier will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. The family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery of Pender. Martha was born on January 22, 1913 in Wayne, Nebraska the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Wennekamp) Bentjen. She was united in marriage to Ed Fabry on April 30, 1936. The couple lived on a farm near Thurston, Nebraska. To this union four children were born: Glen, Ron, Sharon, and Marilyn. After Ed’s death on November 25, 1965, Martha moved to West Point, Nebraska. She worked at the West Point Hospital until she was married to Alvin Merry on December 29, 1979. They lived in Thurston. Alvin died on November 7, 1987. Martha moved to Pender in November of 2005. She was a charter member of the Neighborhood Club, which will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2012. Martha was also a member of the Arg-u-Not Club for many years. She was a longtime member of the United Church, where she was a member of the ladies group. Martha is survived by a son Ron and wife Linda Fabry of Peru, Nebraska; daughters Sharon Fabry and Marilyn and husband Fred Lovelace all of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter-in-law Sandi Fabry of Lincoln, Nebraska; step-daughter Burla Dean Renz of Pender; step-daughter-in-law Charlene Merry of Pender; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Ed Fabry and Alvin Merry, her son Glen, a grandson Matt Fabry, six brothers and sisters, step-son Darrel Merry, and a step-son-in-law Dutch Renz.
