Duane L. Biggerstaff

Duane L. Biggerstaff, 69, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson, with the Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Duane was born on September 7, 1942 in Ponca, Nebraska, the son of Bill and Violet (Anderson) Biggerstaff. He attended school in Allen, Nebraska. He worked driving truck for various companies including Waldbaum's and most recently Lux Brothers. He enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, gardening and spending time outdoors. Duane is survived by his children: Teresa (Mike) Wurdeman of Wayne, NE, Dennis (Candy) Biggerstaff of Wakefield, NE, Kamie (Phil) Neuhalfen of Pierce, NE, and Heidi (Mike) Rischmueller of Winthrop, Minnesota, Lonnie (Lisa) Biggerstaff of Wakefield, NE, Kim Satterwhite (Dan McRae) of Emerson, NE, and his former wife Sharon of Emerson. He is also survived by longtime companion Bonnie Magnuson of Emerson, and her children Shawn and Shalon, brothers Leland (Judy) Biggerstaff, and Rick Biggerstaff, both of Arkansas, and sister Janice Asmas of Norfolk, NE, as well as 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and has host of friends. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Diane, Carol and Linda, and one brother, Donnie.
