Dale Arthur Mitchell, 78, of Lyons, Nebraska, formerly of Walthill, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender. Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, Nebraska with the Rev. Brion Tolzman officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, Nebraska.
Dale was born on September 10, 1933 near Macy, NE to George (G.W.K.) and Iona (Huff) Mitchell. Dale had three brothers, Kenneth, Walt and Wayne, and two sisters, Alice and Mary Jean. He graduated from Macy High School in 1951.
Dale married Connie M. Kelly on August 16, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, NE by the Rev. J. G. Werner. To this union two children were born, Cindy and Brian.
Dale served in the U.S. Army for two years. He enjoyed farming most of his life. For 25 years he carried the Sioux City Journal and Omaha World Herald paper in Walthill. He served on the Walthill Town Board for seven years. In his spare time he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a very devoted husband to his wife Connie.
Dale is survived by his wife Connie, a daughter Cindy Buchholz and her husband Brian of Bancroft, a son, Brian and his wife Kerrie of Dakota Dunes, SD, eight grandchildren: Angie, Heather, Travis, Tim, Leslie, Jayden, Marissa and Ella. nine great grandchildren who loved him: McKenzie, Alyssa, Finley, Nicholas Dale, Meredith, Cooper, Carter, Brenden and Danica. He is also survived by brothers: Walt and his wife Grace of Omaha, Wayne and his wife Elaine of Macy, NE, and Sister Mary Jean Leinart of South Sioux City, NE.
Dale was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Buchholz, his parents, George and Iona Mitchell, .mother-in-law and father-in-law Alvin and Helen Kelly, brother Kenneth Ogden and a sister, Alice Storm.
