Marie R. Breitbarth

Marie R. Breitbarth, 92, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Pender, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Elmwood Care Center in Onawa, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pender, Nebraska with the Rev James Carretto officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh~Smith Funeral Home in Pender, with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pender. The daughter of George and Mable (Rose) Day, Marie was born on September 14, 1919 on a farm East of Pender, Nebraska. She attended grade school in rural Thurston County. She was baptized and confirmed on July 15, 1947 by Pastor Gnuse at St. John's Lutheran Church. Marie married LeRoy Breitbarth on February 3, 1947. They spent their life together farming near Pender. Marie was actively involved as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Pender. Over the years Marie enjoyed time with her family and friends and raising African violets which she gave to everyone. Marie is survived by her son, Gary Breitbarth of Onawa, Iowa, three sisters: Edith Appleton of Tekamah, NE, Geraldine Stansberry and her husband Lloyd of Walthill, NE, and Joyce Maryott of South Sioux City, NE, and sisters-in-law Edna Bettenhausen and Arlie Breitbarth, and brothers-in-law Harry Breitbarth and Art Breitbarth and his wife Oma. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LeRoy in 2007, her sister Margaret and her two brothers, Raymond and Roy.
