Norma Thomsen, 86, a lifetime resident of the Pender area died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Legacy Gardens Heath Center in Pender, NE.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peters Lutheran Church with the Pastor Steve Tjarks officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday July 26, 2012; 4-8 P.M. with family present 6-8 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7 P.M. all at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Interment will be in the St. Peters Church Cemetery in Pender, NE.
Norma was born December 12, 1925 in Pender, NE, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Vosteen) Ahlers. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and was baptized and confirmed there. She graduated from Pender High School in 1944. She married Ardale Thomsen on January 16, 1948 at the St. Peters Parsonage. Norma was a homemaker. She also assisted Ardale with the farm which was located northwest of Pender until Ardale died in 1979. Norma then moved to Pender and worked at the Pender Hospital in the laundry department until retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and their families and also kept a smile on everyone’s face with her great cooking and excellent baking. Over the years Norma also enjoyed flowers, embroidery, and coffee with the gals, and she loved shopping.
Norma is survived by one daughter, Denise (John) Chapman, Decatur, IN; four sons, Gaylen (Beth) Thomsen York, NE, Gary (Mary) Thomsen, Norfolk, NE, Bill (Susie) Thomsen, Thurston, NE, and Craig (Tammie) Thomsen, Wayne, NE.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren plus a new one expected in December. She also leaves behind her sisters in law Esther and Eldine Thomsen.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Ardale, son Donnie, and granddaughter Robyn. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Stuckenschmidt, Pauline Morse and brother Henry Ahlers.
