Randall "Randy" L. Blattert, 73, of Wakefield, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Willy Bertrand officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Randy was born on February 19, 1939, in Stanton, Nebraska, the son of Lawrence and Irene (Schulz) Blattert. Randy was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Wakefield High School in 1957, and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960, serving two years in Germany during the "Cold War". He farmed from 1961 to 1981, going to work for Terra Express in 1982. He retired from Terra Express in 2010. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and VFW Post #5765. Randy enjoyed deer hunting, target shooting, working on guns and spending time with his German Shepherd, but most of all, he loved his grandchildren. Randy is survived by his wife Angela, son Cory and his wife Kristen Blattert of Blair, Nebraska, a daughter Kerilyn Blattert of Columbus, NE, two grandchildren Rylan and Regan Blattert of Blair, NE, and a sister Mardelle Wiseman and her husband Will of Wayne, NE. Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
