Charles H. Puls, 84, of rural Pender passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 11, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender with Pastor Margaret Olson and Pastor Walter Behrens officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. There will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. Charles was born on May 2, 1923 at Pender, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Margaret (DeGroat) Puls. He graduated from High School in 1941. After graduating he served during WWII from 1941-1945. He married Stella Messerschmidt on December 28, 1946. They resided in Noel, Missouri for three years before moving back to the farm West of Pender in 1953, later moving East of Pender in 1960. Charles loved working with the dairy and the land.
He enjoyed life, loved his family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his fishing trips to Minnesota. Charles worked several years as a Hospice Volunteer, enjoyed playing cards with friends, and the many trips to visit his scattered family.
He is survived by his wife Stella of Pender, four daughters: Helen and husband Bob Kevo of St. Maries, Idaho, Carol and husband Ben Blum of George, Iowa, Susan and husband Robert Urbanec of rural Pender, and Lisa and husband Tom Tangen of Seattle, Washington. Charles is also survived by a son David and wife Janet Puls of Springfield, Virginia, four granddaughters, six grandsons, and a great grandson and four great-granddaughters, and a brother Henry Puls of Pender.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a son Charles Jr., a brother Jim and half brother Paul Manning.
