Delmar E. Wortman

Delmar E. Wortman, 84, of Rosalie, Nebraska died on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Funeral services for Delmar will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Rosalie. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Decatur, Nebraska. Delmar Elbert Wortman was born on January 29, 1923 in Winona, Kansas to Albert and Margaret Wortman. Delmar and his parents moved to Tekamah, Nebraska eventually moving to Walthill, Nebraska. He graduated from High School in 1941. Delmar was united in marriage to Glenna Butts on February 28, 1942 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Delmar and Glenna started farming in 1944 south of Decatur, Nebraska then in 1957 moved to a farm 7 miles east of Rosalie where he farmed for 36 years before moving into Rosalie. Delmar and Glenna were blessed with three sons Robert, Jim and Jerry. Delmar was a committee member for the ASC office for several years where he surveyed and measured land. For many years Delmar was a seed corn salesman for Northup King Seeds. In 1961 Delmar became a member of the United Methodist Church in Rosalie. He served as a committee member for several years. He enjoyed working on Church projects with other members of the church. During their younger years Delmar and Glenna enjoyed going square dancing. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family. But his greatest love was his family, grand children and great grand children. Delmar is survived by his wife Glenna of 65 years, sons Robert of Sioux City, Iowa, Jim and wife Janet of Yutan, Nebraska and Jerry and wife Becky of Rosalie, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren Shane Wortman and wife Donna of North Carolina, Jason Wortman and wife Pam of Bancroft, Nebraska, Nicholas Wortman of California, Pepper Wortman of California, Angela Wortman of Lincoln, Nebraska, Janel Wortman and Robert Mulhair of Mead, Nebraska, Jennifer and husband Danny Josoff of Yutan, Nebraska, April and husband Joshua Abraham of Yutan, Nebraska; 12 Great Grandchildren; brothers Gerald and wife Joanne of Tekamah, Nebraska, Donald and wife Eleanor of California, Lawrence of Walthill, Nebraska, and sister-in-law Betty Wortman of McCook, NE; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vernon and Sister-in law Ester.
