Ardath L. Utecht, 90, of Wakefield died on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Nebraska, pastor Jerome Cloninger officiating. There will be a visitation held on Friday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler –Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. Ardath Lorraine Utecht, daughter of Emil and Florence (Rubeck) Lund, was born on August 25, 1917 at Wakefield. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of Salem. She attended grade school in Dixon County and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1934. She attended and graduated from Luther College and taught school in Wayne County. On February 24, 1940, she married Fred Utecht and their parents’ home. The lived east of Wakefield the first four years and then moved to a farm in Wayne County. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, the XYZ, Wakefield Senior Center, Care Center Auxiliary, WELCA, Serve All Club and enjoyed sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief and for the needy. She taught Sunday School for a number of years and was a leader of the Junior Missionary Society.
Survivors include three sons and their wives: Mark and Janice of Papillion, Nebraska, Herman and Linda of Hudson, Colorado, Sam and Lori of Estherville, Iowa, three grandsons, three granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, three brothers: Dr. Dale and wife Ruth Lund of Fremont, Nebraska, Richard and wife Bonnie Lund of Wayne Eugene and wife Ginny of New Jersey, a sister Janice Barelman of Wayne, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Fred in 1979.
