Ruth Elaine Baker

Ruth E. Baker, 86, of Pender, Nebraska died on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons, Nebraska. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at The United Church of Pender; Pastor Charity Potter will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender with the family present from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Monday evening. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery of Pender. Ruth was born on March 31, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Elda (Lusebrink) Chaillie. She attended and graduated from East High School in Sioux City. She was united in marriage to Carroll Baker on August 28, 1951 in Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union three sons were born: Ken, Dennis and Ron. Ruth and Carroll made their home east of Pender, where they farmed. She was a member of the United Church of Pender. Ruth enjoyed bowling, fishing and tending to her garden and flowers. She is survived by her husband Carroll, sons Ken and wife Barb of Homer, Nebraska, Dennis and wife Nancy and Ron and wife Kathy all of Pender, Nebraska. Ruth is also survived by her eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister Geraldine and husband Virgil Dissmeyer of Edina, Minnesota. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Elda and a brother and his wife Marv and Mary Chaillie.
