Elvera Evelyn Borg

Elvera E. Borg, 87, of Concord, Nebraska died on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services for Elvera will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Wakefield; Pastor Kelly Johnston will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. The family will be present from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Elvera was born on January 31, 1925 on the family farm north of Wakefield, the daughter of Wilhelm Carl and Judith Anna (Holm) Borg. She attended Myrtle Creek Country School until the 8th grade. Elvera graduated from Wakefield High School in 1942. Later in life she returned to school receiving nursing degree from Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa in 1961. She became the head nurse at the Wakefield Hospital, and remained there until its closing. She then commuted to Sioux City, where she worked at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center until her retirement. Elvera was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield. She was confirmed in 1940, and later went on to be a Bible School and Classroom Teacher. Elvera was a member of the Neighborhood Home Circle Club, as was her mother before her. She also enjoyed being a part of the Striking Diamond Belles Red Hat Society. Elvera’s home was the place for “coke time” at 4:00 pm each day. Her family members, the nephews' hired help, or whoever stopped by were welcomed to come in and enjoy having Coke and chocolate chip cookies. She had a passion for her pet dogs: Princess, Molly, Mitzy and Sandi. She also enjoyed her various travels, including her annual summer trek taking her nephews to visit her sister Virginia and family in Minnesota. Elvera is survived by a brother-in-law Wilbur Bergerson, sister-in-law Lois Borg, nephews: Gary and Steve Bergerson and Terry, Lyle, Mark and Joey Borg, nieces Debra Mayworm and Diane Webb, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William Eugene Borg and Marvin Borg, and a sister Virginia Ann Bergerson.
