Helen Malzahn

Click here to view the video tribute   Helen O. (Hoffman) Malzahn, 93, of Bancroft, Nebraska, died on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Tri-County Area Medical Center in Lexington, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Nebraska with the Rev. Philip Hale officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Bancroft. Interment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Helen was born on June 9, 1914 in Battle Creek, Nebraska, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret (Ickler) Hoffman. She married Edward Malzahn on November 22, 1936. After their marriage they lived in Wakefield, moving to Bancroft in 1939. In 1966 Ed and Helen moved into town, and ran a TV and Appliance Store until December of 1994. Ed died in May of 1994. Helen had been living in Lexington, Nebraska since October of 2007. Helen is survived by her son, Leon Malzahn and his wife Carolyn of Johnson, Lake, Nebraska, six grandchildren Mike Bonine of Wahoo, Ne; Kristy (Bonine) Beers of Logan, Iowa; Diane (Bonine) Neal of Destin, Fl; Monte Malzahn of Sidney, Ne; Mark Bonine of Omaha, NE; Lynnette (Malzahn) Taylor of Omaha, fourteen great grandchildren: Joshua and Chase Bonine; Dakota and Alexa Beers; Riane, Kristine and Brian Neal; Allyson, Ethan and Madison Malzahn; Kaitlyn, Ameila, Isabella and Alexandra Taylor, two brothers-in-law, Cleo Deuel and Darrel Glandt of Norfolk, Ne, two sisters-in-law: Esther Hoffman of Bloomfield, Ne; and Edna Hardesty of Plainview, Ne, as well as many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward, and one daughter, Marlene Boninie
