Click here to view the video tribute.   Morris J. Thomsen, 91, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Nebraska; Pastor Jerome Cloninger will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler – Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Morris was born on a farm southeast of Wakefield in Wayne County on August 28, 1916, the son of Carl and Alma (Lueders) Thomsen. He was raised in Wayne County and attended country Parochial School. On November 3, 1937 he married Mildred “Mick” Smith in Wayne County. They farmed in Thurston and eventually Wayne County, where they raised their family. In 1964, they moved to Wakefield and Morris continued to farm and tend livestock until 1998, when he retired at the age of 82. Morris and Mick continued to live in their own home and were very active with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandson. Morris was a long time member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he faithfully attended and served on church council and as an usher for several years. He is survived by his wife Mick, children Elaine and husband Bill Greve, Faye and husband Merlin Greve and Ken Thomsen of Wakefield and Jim and wife Karen Thomsen of Stromsburg, Nebraska, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Morris is also survived by a brother Robert Thomsen of rural Wakefield and a sister Mamie Glissman of Pender, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Mike Thomsen, two infant granddaughters, a daughter-in-law Denise Thomsen, four brothers Marvin, Otto, Louis and Elmer and a sister Lizzie.
