Lester Kubik, 78, of Emerson, Nebraska died on Monday, December 31, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, with the Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.
Lester was born on September 13, 1929 in Thurston, Nebraska, the son of Frank and Emma (Zvacek) Kubik. He graduated from Rosalie High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea for two years beginning in 1951. He married Janice Koopman on March 13, 1955. Lester worked for Herman Bottger Implement for several years, and then went into farming until 1986. He worked for several other places up until the time of his death.
Lester is survived by his wife Janice, sons Rick and special friend Kay Hermerding of St. Paul, Minnesota and Richard Kubik of Emerson, and a daughter Nancy and husband Ted Hassler of Big Lake, Minnesota, two grandchildren Dalton and Lauren Hassler of Big Lake, Minnesota, a brother Pat Kubik of Las Vegas, Nevada and three sisters Ann Bottger of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Ruth Mattes of Allen, Nebraska and Sue Newill of South Sioux City, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and a sister.
