Floyd Tonjes, 81, of Pender, Nebraska died on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Floyd will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender, Pastor Margaret Olson will be officiating. The visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery near Pender. Floyd was born on November 16, 1926 in Pender, the son of George F. and Anna (Wollmer) Tonjes. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He attended school at District #71 in Cuming County and graduated from Pender High School in 1943. He married Marcelene Gralheer on February 20, 1949. They lived and farmed West of Pender until 2006, when they moved into Pender. Floyd served on the church council and cemetery board and on the District #5 School Board, the Rural Farmers Telephone Line and ASC and F.H.A. county committees. He worked several years at the Pender Livestock on sale days. He was a longtime Cornhusker fan and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and watching sporting events. Floyd is survived by his wife Marcelene, three sons Clayton and wife Sandy of Sioux City, Iowa, Lee and wife Jane, and Lynn and wife Mary of Pender; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Milon, Lowell and wife Marlene, Royce and wife Marianne and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parent, a brother Bernard and sister-in-law Elaine.
