Click here to view the video tribute.   Ruth Lempke, 98, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Pastor Jerome Cloninger will be officiating. There will be a visitation from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Ruth Lempke, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Sunquist) Fransen, was born on October 20, 1909 at Wakefield. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. She was married to Harry Lempke on February 11, 1931 at the Salem Lutheran Church Parsonage in Wakefield. A daughter, Bernice and a son, Myron, was born to this union. Ruth was blessed with a step-daughter Harriet. Harry and Ruth farmed in the Waterbury and Emerson communities. After her husband’s death, she made her home in Wakefield. The last the months she spent at the Wakefield Care Center Nursing Home. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, embroidering pictures and quilts for grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Another hobby was taking pictures to put into photo albums. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and was actively involved in XYZ and WELCA. Ruth is survived by a daughter Bernice and her husband John Hall of Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter-in-law Velma Carstens, a step son-in-law, Marvin Stolle, three sisters: Gladys Park of Wakefield, Florence Fleetwood of Omaha, Dorothy Hubbard of Randolph and a sister-in-law Bonnie Fransen, plus a host of other relatives and friends, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son Myron Lempke, a step-daughter Harriet Stolle, two sisters, two brothers and a grandson John S. Hall.
