Click here to view the video tribute.   Margaret H. Fischer, 87, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Wakefield Health Care Center. Funeral services for Margaret will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield; Pastor Jerome Cloninger will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to Wayne Providence Hospice or to Camp Carol Joy Holling. Margaret Rodgers Fischer was born on April 25, 1920 in rural Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Emil and Hazel (Kinder) Rodgers. Margaret was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. She attended country school before graduating from Wakefield High School. Margaret then attended Wayne State Teachers College. She taught students in rural schools as well as being a music instructor. Margaret was married to Paul Fischer on December 27, 1942 at Salem Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Wakefield, Allen and Wayne areas until January 1957, when they moved into Wakefield. Margaret was active in community events. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was active in various ladies groups. She was a pianist, organist, choir and bell choir director. She is survived by a daughter Paulette and her husband Maynard Schubert of Gretna, Nebraska and a son Duane “Butch” and his wife Pam Fischer of Visalia, California, six grandchildren: Scott and wife Kim Schubert, Stacie Schubert, Steve and wife Amy Schubert, Tori Ross, Tyson Fischer and Jo Hannah Fischer, five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Jessica, Megan and Jeremy Schubert and Grant Whitmore. She is also survived by a brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul and an infant son Roger Lee.
