Roger L. Wilke, 55 of Emerson, Nebraska died on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at his home following a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, Nebraska with the Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.
Roger was born on June 22, 1952 in Wayne, Nebraska to William and Mildred (Boyd) Wilke. He was raised in the Emerson area and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1970.
During his life, Roger was employed by Emerson Fertilizer, Emerson Grain Elevator, Crop Production Services, and many area farmers. He was always a dedicated and hard-working employee.
Roger loved being a friend to everybody. He was always there to help whether it was a friend or a stranger. His generosity and kindness will always be remembered.
Roger will be truly missed by three sisters and their husbands, Jeannie and Louis Kratky of Thurston, Ne, Mary and William Zeisler of Emerson, Ne, and Gayle and Duane Rohde of Hubbard, Ne, and three brothers and wives, William and Diane of Bettendorf, Ia, Earl and Bette of Omaha, and Donald and Ruth of Lincoln. Roger will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, an aunt, and his enormous family of friends.
