Marie Edna Samson

Marie Edna “Geisler” Samson passed away on December 6, 2012 at the age of 76, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at l:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, NE, with Pastor Ricky Jacob officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Her favorite bible verse is from the Book of Revelations 2:10, “Remaining faithful even when facing death and I will give you the crown of life.” Born June 12, 1936, Marie was the fourth child from a family of five. She was baptized on July 5, 1936 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Lyons. She was confirmed on April 30, 1950 from the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft. She graduated from Bancroft Public School in 1954, and for a short time she worked at the Regional Gambles Store in Fremont. She worked later at the Gambles Store in Walthill for a number of years. She cooked at the Walthill Senior Center. She was a member of the Walthill Rescue Dept. and Auxiliary. Marie married Don Samson on November 14, 1954 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft. With this union they have three sons, Larry, Michael and wife Robin of Waverly, NE and Bryan and wife Lisa of Aberdeen, SD. They have 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Marie is survived by her husband and children, two brothers, Orville and wife Betty Geisler of Denver, CO and Lester and wife Jeanette Geisler of Bancroft, one sister Margaret and husband BJ Hammel of Mission, TX and sister-in-law Jean Geisler of Boise, ID widow of Melvin Geisler, sister-in-law Joan Samson widow of Glen Samson, and brother-in-law Vernon Samson both of Solomon, MD and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Over the years Marie and her family enjoyed camping, boating, yahtzee, marbles and playing cards. She enjoyed many hobbies including bowling, crafting, and gardening. In Marie’s absence her FAMOUS CHEESE DIP AND PICKLES will be missed. Her caring personality and smiling face will be missed by many caring friends and family. Preceding her in death are her parents William and Edna Geisler, one brother Melvin Geisler, sisters-in-law: Rosalie (Orville) Geisler, Fritzie (Vernon) Samson, Elverna Bingham, Kathleen LaRandeau, brothers-in-law: Glenn Samson, George Bingham, and John LaRandeau. Her grandchildren Chandra Smith, Shannon Schulz, Ashley Tobey, Crystal Hammer, Ben, Meghan, Justin and Mara Samson, Brandon Harms and Heather Cyriacks will be pallbearers. Marie’s great grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Singing “Rock of Ages” will be niece and nephews, Troy and Shawna Bothwell and Daniel Hartnett.
