Dennis Smith

Dennis L. Smith, 73, of Rosalie, Nebraska, passed away suddenly at his home in Rosalie Sunday night, February 10, 201. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 15, at 10:30 A.M. at the Rosalie Community Center with Pastor Dave French officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, Ne with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Denny was born on August 19, 1939 in Rosalie, Nebraska, the son of Charles and Opal (Jenkins) Smith. He married Peggy Rae Neill/Smith in Onawa, IA at United Methodist Church. Four children were born to this union. Denny has lived in his home town of Rosalie all his life, being born at home. He has worked as a truck driver and construction worker throughout his life. At the present time was working for Duane and Mike Ostrand driving truck for seasonal work. Denny's greatest love in his life was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved planning brisquette barbeques in the back yard, becoming one of the biggest requests from his grandkids for their birthdays. He was serving on the Town Board of Rosalie and takes a great interest in his hometown. He loved saving stray kittens and finding homes for them and sometimes bringing them home. He loved deer hunting and fishing and camping at Burwell, Ne whenever possible. He and his wife have gardened since the first year they were married. Proud of every gun he ever purchased, only to trade them with his buddies. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; Son, Bruce Smith of Bancroft, Ne; daughter Shawna Farewell and husband Darin Farewell of Rosalie Ne; daughter Sheila Blatchford of South Sioux City,NE; daughter Theresa French and husband Pastor David French of Ocala, FL; Sister Karen Paulsen and husband Myron Paulsen of Beemer, Ne. 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, with 2 more on the way; A brother, Rodney Smith and Jan Smith of Omaha, Ne: An Uncle Duane Jenkins and Joyce Jenkins of Homer, Ne and numerous nieces and nephews. Denny was preceeded in death by his parents, Charles Smith, and mother Opal, step mother Ethel Smith, and Colbey Gatzemeyer.
