Linnea Olson, 93, of Wakefield, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2013 at the Wakefield Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, at 2:00 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, with the Rev. Darwin Garton officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service at the Church. Interment will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
Hilda Linnea Josephine was born on August 6, 1919 to S. Erik and Emma (Backstrom) Johnson on a farm north of Wakefield. She attended Sand Creek and Pleasant Valley Country schools and graduated from Wakefield Senior High School in 1937.
Linnea was united in marriage to Clarence V. Olson on March 14, 1943 at her parent’s home.
Linnea was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on September 3, 1919 and confirmed on June 24, 1934. She was a member of WELCA, Afternoon circle, XYZ, American Legion Auxiliary and the Neighborhood Worthwhile Club.
She and Clarence moved from the farm into town in December of 1960. Linnea was a sales clerk at Bossman’s and Viker’s Dry Goods Store for 26 years. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Senior Center, quilting at church, fishing and taking day trips with her husband, and visiting with family and friends.
Linnea is survived by two sisters-in-law: Donella Johnson of Wayne, NE, and Dolores Johnson of Wakefield, nieces, nephews and friends.
Linnea was preceded in death by her parents, Erik and Emma (Backstrom) Johnson, her husband Clarence in 1979, an infant son, brothers: Ephraim, Amos, Theodore, Harold and an infant brother.
