Arlene E. Lundahl, 85 of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Schuyler, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson, with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 24, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Emerson. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
Arlene was born on April 3, 1927 on a farm near Pilger, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry and Lizzie (Dahlkoetter) Koehlmoos. She was baptized April 3, 1927 and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pilger, Nebraska. She attended school in Pilger. Arlene married Melvin Pipal on January 13, 1951 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pilger. Together they had three sons Randy, Ricky and Joey. Melvin passed away in 1959.
Arlene married LeRoy Lundahl on July 27, 1967 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson, Nebraska. She was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, a member of WELCA, Miriam Circle and Dorcas Sewing Group. Arlene was a librarian in the Emerson Public School for many years. She was involved in many organizations including, teaching Cub Scouts for 8 years, a member of the Senior Center and a representative for the Governors Conference for Aging Americans. She was proud of the fact that she danced with Myron Florn in 1988. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and was the past President of Ryan McEntaffer Post in Emerson and a member of the VFW in Wayne, she was a Gold Star Sister member of both units. Arlene belonged to the Eagles Club in South Sioux City, was also a honorary member of PTA in Emerson-Hubbard School. She enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren.
Arlene is survived by her sons, Ricky Pipal of Hanover, MD and Joey and his wife JoAnn Pipal of David City, NE, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a brother Henry of AZ and a sister Lillian and her husband Leo Penn of MO. She was preceded in by her parents, husband LeRoy, son Randy, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
