Virginia G. Jepsen, 85, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Heritage of Emerson Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson, with the Rev. Gretchen Ritola officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral service. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.
Virginia was born on May 10, 1927 in Wakefield, Nebraska, the daughter of Benjamin and Viney (Strivens) Bokemper. She attended school through the 8th grade at a country school near Emerson. She married Albert Jepsen on May 7, 1942. Besides being a full time farm wife, she had worked for Waldbaum's for 35 years. Virginia was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed having people over and cooking for them, gardening, sewing, playing piano, fishing and sightseeing in Nebraska and Minnesota, especially at the lakes. She most enjoyed her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by a daughter, Peggy Chapman and her husband Tom of Emerson, NE, a daughter-in-law Trudy Jepsen of Hubbard, NE, sisters: Maxine Peters of Emerson, Doloris McGuire of Pender, NE, Shirley Carder of Emerson, JoAnn Flammang and her husband Ed of Bronson, IA, Bonnie Steecker and her husband Bill of Emerson, Diane Lorensen and her husband Larry of Newcastle, NE, brothers Myron "Charlie" Bokemper and his wife Sandra of Sioux City, IA, and Anton (Tony) Bokemper of Emerson, NE, a sister-in-law Dorothy Linafelter of Oakland, CA, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, a son, Jimmy, an infant granddaughter, Stacey Jepsen, brothers: Carl, and Bill, Sister Lois Black and an infant sister Linda Bokemper.
