Anna Mildred (Sorensen) Wingett, 91, of Walthill, Nebraska died on Tuesday, March 11, 2007 at the Pender Care Centre in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, Nebraska with the Rev. Brion Tolzman officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the Church in Walthill. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill. Ann was born on November 9, 1916 to Mogens and Nicolene (Nielsene) Sorensen near Bancroft, Nebraska. She attended rural schools in Cuming County and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1934. She attended Midlands Lutheran College and received normal training, and began a long teaching career in 1935. She taught in rural school in Cuming, Thurston and Dakota counties. Ann received her Bachelors degree from Wayne State College in 1965. Ann married Raymond L. Wingett in Walthill, Nebraska on June 22, 1941. Their son Wes, was born on November 16, 1942 in California where they lived during WWII. After the war Ann and her family returned to Nebraska where they resided on farms in Cuming, Dakota and Thurston counties. In 1955 Ann began teaching elementary school in Walthill Public School. She retired in 1983. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives and spending winters in Texas. She was an active member of various educational associations and Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. Ann is survived by her son, Wes Wingett and his wife Karen of Norfolk, Ne, grandchildren Sara of Norfolk, and Ben of Portland OR, brother Norman Sorensen of Bancroft, Ne, and many nieces, nephews friends and former students. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Ray in 1999.
