Elmer W. Sedivy, 78, of Walthill, NE, passed away March 27, 2013, at his home in Walthill, NE. Funeral services for Elmer will be Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, NE, with Pastor Brion Tolzman officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2013, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walthill Fire Department Building. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE. In lieu of flowers please direct all memorials to the family. Elmer was born July 27, 1934 in Verdel, NE, to Walter and Lidia (Smolek) Sedivy. He graduated from Niobrara Public School in 1951. On April 24, 1954, Elmer married Doris (Brandt) of Creighton, NE, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick, NE. He worked as a mechanic in Verdigre, NE and Creighton, NE. In 1966, he became a co-owner of Walthill Farm Equipment in Walthill, NE. Elmer and Doris raised their family in the Walthill community. In 1992, the Farm Equipment was sold and Elmer started working for Walthill Service. Elmer enjoyed visiting with the people and was known for his jokes and stories. Elmer could fix anything, if you needed something fixed or repaired Elmer had the knowledge and mechanical expertise to fix it. If Elmer was not working in the shop, you could find him on the river with his wife fishing in one of their favorite catfish holes or hunting with his sons and grandchildren. Elmer spent many weekends in Running Water, SD, camping by the river, having fish fries and spending time with family and friends. Elmer is survived by his wife, Doris of Walthill, NE; five sons, Jerry (Kathy) Sedivy of Walthill, NE, David (Patricia) Sedivy of Newcastle, NE, Warren (Jeanie) Sedivy of Alliance, NE, Glenn (Nancy) Sedivy of Sioux City, IA, Mark (Jody) Sedivy of Homer, NE; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brother, John (Peggy) Sedivy of Danville, PA, and Gary (Karen) Sedivy of Vermillion, SD. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Julia Ann Higgens.
