Shirley Powley

Shirley Mae (Hulsebusch) Powley, 84, of Pender, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender; Pastor Miles Ruch will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Burial will be in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery rural Pender. Memorials may be directed to the family. Shirley was born January 29, 1929 in Pender, NE to Elmer and Martha (Witmer) Hulsebusch. After graduating from Pender High School she married Wayne W. Powley on March 26, 1950 in Pender. Shirley worked at the Courthouse for 23 years with the last 15 years at the Sheriff’s Department. She was a member at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Shirley enjoyed embroidering T-towels, doing crafts and playing cards. Most importantly Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her daughter Judy Chaney of Pender, NE; son Steve Powley (Shelly) of Fremont, NE; Grandchildren Dustin Powley of Lincoln, NE, Dylan Powley of Wisner, NE and Danika Powley of Fremont, NE; great grandchildren Bryson and Ryan Powley of Lincoln, NE; sister Karen Dahlman of Pender, NE; aunt Mickey Ellyson of Pender, NE. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne Powley and son-in-law Lon Chaney.
