Freda M. Davenport, 81, of South Sioux City, Nebraska died on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at her home. Memorial services for Freda will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill; Pastor Brion Tolzman will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Pender is in charge of the arrangements.
Freda was born on January 12, 1932, in Walthill, Nebraska, the daughter of Clarence and Elenor (Wolburg) Young. She attended Walthill High School. After school she was united in marriage to Lebert Davenport on August 9, 1949. To this union five children were born: Gary, Lee, David, Shirley and Lori. The couple farmed in Thurston County until retiring to South Sioux city in April 2008. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Ladies Aid. Lebert died on December 5, 2009. Freda enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved watching Nebraska Football and spending time at the Casino.
Freda is survived by her children: Gary (Deborah) Davenport of Fremont, Ne, Lee (Linda) Davenport of Bolivar, Mo, David Davenport of Homer, Ne, Shirley (Wendell) Guy of Homer, Ne and Lori (Mark) Carey of S. Sioux City, Ne. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and a sister June Shafer of Mesa, Az.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lebert, and sisters Norma Martinsen and Darlene Niel.
