Click here to view the memorial video.   Hazel Ethel Gatzemeyer, 95, of Bancroft, entered into heavenly rest peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft, Ne with Fr. Paul Ortmeier officiating. A visitation will be held at the Church on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery in Bancroft. Hazel was born October 10, 1912 to Daniel and Maggie Castor of Decatur. She attended grade school in Decatur and then high school in Walthill. On June 5, 1929, she married Lawrence Gatzemeyer. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1954. Hazel enjoyed being a member of the pipe chimers and enjoyed spending time at the senior center. Hazel was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bancroft. She was honored with the Spirit of Holy Cross Award. Survivors include daughter Myra and husband Kent Bunderson of Craig, Ne, son James and wife Fran Gatzemeyer of Bellevue, Ne, daughter DeLoise and husband Delwyn Pearson of Oakland, Ne, son Loren and wife Janice Gatzemeyer of Omaha, Ne, son Pat and wife Erma Gatzemeyer of Bancroft, Ne, son Dennis and wife Nancy Gatzemeyer of Bancroft, Ne, son Gary Gatzemeyer and Beth of Bancroft, Ne and a sister Maxine Buchholz of Bancroft, Ne. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1966, 2 children, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.
