Mable Moeller (Schlotman), 98, of Walthill, NE, passed away June 13, 2013, at Regency Square in South Sioux City, NE. Funeral services will be Monday, June 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Walthill, NE; with Pastor Philip Sloat officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2013, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Walthill, NE. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Walthill, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mable was born October 4, 1914, in Benchland, MT, to Fred and Daisy (Newton) Schlotman. She attended school in Montana until the age of 16 when her family moved to Nebraska. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1933. Mable married Ronald “Fritz” Moeller on August 24, 1935. To this union five children were born: Dorothy, Margaret, Herman, Barbara and Bob. After their marriage the couple farmed with Fritz’s family northwest of Decatur. In 1941, the family moved to a farm northeast of Walthill. They made their home on the farm until moving into Walthill after Fritz’s retirement. Fritz died in December of 1969. Mable worked at the Senior Citizen’s Center for a short time and later was a cook at Head Start in Walthill for 17 years. Mable enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and embroidering.
She is survived by her children: Margaret and husband Duane Piper of Dakota City, Ne, Barb Maslonka and friend Gale Griffin of Decatur, Ne, Bob and Lissa Moeller of Ravenna, Ne, son-in-law Hugh Marr and wife Bernadette of Dodge, Ne and daughter-in-law Judy Moeller and husband Larry Jernigan of Winder, Ga. Mable is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Dorothy Marr, son Herman “Butch” Moeller, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
