Joann & Sparky Malmberg

Joann M. Malmberg, 79, of Pender, Nebraska, and O’Neill, Nebraska died on Saturday, June 15, 2013. C. Ardell “Sparky” Malmberg, 81 died on December 15, 2012. Memorial services for Joann and Sparky will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Church of Pender. The visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M., with the family present from 5:30 until 7:00 P.M at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Pender. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the A.L.S. Foundation. Joann was born on March 12, 1934 in Bancroft, Nebraska, the daughter of Hiram and Florence (Russman) Richardson. She attended Rosalie High School. On February 24, 1952, she married C. Ardell “Sparky” Malmberg in Rosalie, Nebraska. Joann was known for being a great fisherman, and a wonderful cook and baker. Sparky was born October 10, 1931 at Pender, Nebraska to Claus and Frances (McGuire) Malmberg. He was a Horseman and Cattleman. Sparky graduated from Pender High School, and served multiple terms on the Pender School Board. Joann and Sparky are survived by their sons: Curt (Diane) of Alda, NE, Craig (Donna) of Pender, NE, Clay (Maridee) of Thurston, NE, and Corey of San Francisco, CA, daughter Cheri (Jeff) Stingley of Aloys, NE, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Joann is survived by one sister-in-law Connie (Larry) Richardson of Bancroft, Nebraska. Sparky is survived by his three sisters: Shirley Marten of Lincoln, NE., Diane (Ron) Raasch of Corydon, Iowa, and Cheryl Wensmann of Sartell, Minnesota, and One Brother: Gary (Barb) Malmberg of O’Neill, NE. They were preceded in death by their parents, and a great grandson Chayton. Sparky was also preceded in death by his sister Charlotte (Dell) Frey. Joann was also preceded in death by her brothers: Lyle, Ardys, Earl (Joyce), Rex, and Larry Richardson.
