Arvaleen L. Jahde of Fremont, Nebraska, formerly of Pender died on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral services for Arvaleen will be held on Monday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church near Pender. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arvaleen was born on a farm near Gregory, South Dakota on March 21, 1924, the daughter of Arnold and Eva (Ludwig) Malchow. At the age of 10, Arvaleen family moved to Pilger, Nebraska, where she graduated from High School. She attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught rural school in Thurston County for three years. Arvaleen was united in marriage to G. Ardell Jahde at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Pender on September 9, 1945. To this union four sons were born: Merle, Marvin, Alan and Keith. Arvaleen and Ardell lived and worked on the farm until Ardell’s death on April 14, 2000. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, camping and creative writing. Arvaleen moved to Nye Square in Fremont in February of 2006 and joined the Creative Writing group to record stories of her memories for her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses: Merle (Carolyn) of Lincoln, NE, Marvin (Judy) of Overland Park, KS, Alan (Cathy) of Morrison, CO, Keith (Kim) of Lincoln, NE. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and two brothers Merlin Malchow of Wayne, NE, and Willard (JoAnn) Malchow of Laurel, NE.
Arvaleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ardell, a brother Kenny Malchow and an infant sister.
