Darlene M. Burns

Darlene M. (Curtis) Burns, 85, of Pender, NE, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday, July 3, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Family graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 6, at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Darlene was born January 23, 1928 in Omaha, NE to Charles and Martha (Tesnohlidek) Curtis. She attended South High School in Omaha, NE. On April 16, 1950 she married Charles Burns at St. Bridgett’s Catholic Church in Omaha, NE. Darlene enjoyed being outdoors especially while doing yard work. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends, and traveling, mainly to Estes Park, CO. She loved living in Pender for the past couple of years. Darlene loved spending time with her family. Darlene is survived by her son; Charles (Sheri) Burns of Danville, CA, and their daughter Regan Burns of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Callie (Randy) Rink of Pender, NE; one sister-in-law, Betty Curtis of Omaha, NE, one brother; Charles (Bea) Curtis of Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; sister; Delores (Don) Doty; brother, Stan Curtis.
