Jerry L. Rager

Jerry Rager, 70, of Homer, Nebraska died on July 10, 2013 from complications due to a stroke. Jerry’s wishes were to be cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements under by the direction of Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield, Nebraska. Jerry was born February 5, 1943 at the family home in rural Walthill, Nebraska to his parents Donald and Retha (Woten) Rager. As a young boy Jerry moved with his family to Dakota City, Nebraska, where he attended school and was a member of the last graduating class from Dakota City High School in 1962. During his high school years, Jerry was an outstanding athlete competing in football, basketball and baseball. Jerry loved to hunt with his brother, David. They used greyhounds in the sport of hunting coyotes in his younger years. Jerry was an avid fisherman and some of his happiest moments were spent fishing with his son, Marvin. Catching those big flathead catfish in the Missouri River was great fun for Jerry. Any time with Marvin; fishing or otherwise, was a highlight for Jerry. Marvin was truly a cause of pride for Jerry. When he was not participating in outdoor activities, Jerry would pass the time playing cards or doing crossword puzzles. In all of his jobs; Flasco, Wincharger, Dyna Tech, South Sioux Co-Op, South Sioux Feed, Central Soya Mill, and helping area farmers, Jerry was known as a hard worker throughout his life. He was not only a hard worker but also a good friend. Any person that was a friend of Jerry’s had a true friend. Jerry was preceded in death by his Dad, Donald. Jerry is survived by his Mom; Retha Curry of South Sioux City, Nebraska; his son Marvin Rager and his wife, Christy, and their children Ronnie and Rachel all of Wakefield, Nebraska; his brother David Rager and Katy of Elysian, Minnesota, his brother Chuck Rager and Roberta of Ogallala, Nebraska; nephews Tyler, Travis, Ryan, and niece, Rachel.
