Janice K. Olson

Janice K. Olson, 60, of Emerson, NE, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Memorial Services will be held Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, NE; Father Gerald Leise will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home of Emerson, NE is in charge of arrangements. Jan was born October 21, 1952 in Sac City, IA the daughter of Eldon and Arline (Beach) Horton. After graduating from High School, Jan attended Stewarts Beauty School in Sioux City, IA. On July 20, 1974 she married Andrew Olson in Odebolt. To this union four children were born: Ryan, Tricia, Laura and Clint. Jan owned and operated the Hair Locker for several years in Emerson. She was a member of the Altar Society, founding member of Three Counties That Glisten, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Jan also enjoyed crafting, decorating, family, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Jan is survived by her husband Andy, two sons Ryan Olson of Seattle, WA and Clint “Rocky” (Renee) Olson of Lawrence, KS; a daughter Tricia (Chad) Luber of Emerson, NE, four grandchildren: Cade, Carter and Ava Luber and Corbin Olson, mother Arline Horton of Odebolt, IA, three sisters: Susan Horton of Sac City, IA, Nancy (Richard) Hitchcock of Tampa Bay, FL, and Mari (Al) Rico of Orlando, FL, a brother Bill (Myra) Horton of Sac City, IA, and many nieces and nephews. Jan is preceded in death by her daughter Laura, her father Eldon Horton, and a sister Beverly Horton.
